Deflation
Deflation means that the prices of goods and services (also those regularly purchased by households) decline over a longer period of time (usually one year). As the price level declines, the value of money rises: we see an increase in purchasing power. However, deflation is a danger for the economy as consumers and businesses may postpone purchases and investments because they expect the value of money to increase; as a result, economic output declines.
