The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) is the central bank of the Republic of Austria and, as such, an integral part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). The OeNB’s legal terms are governed by the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the Statute of the European System of Central Banks and of the European Central Bank, the Federal Act on the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Nationalbankgesetz) 1984 and other federal legislation. The OeNB is a stock corporation with statutory capital of EUR 12 million, and the federal government is its sole shareholder.
Responsibility for managing the OeNB’s activities and operations lies with the Governing Board. All non-ESCB-related activities are subject to supervision by the OeNB’s General Council.
